Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño saw it all during this third round of the PGA Championship held at Valhalla, Louisville (Kentucky). The Madrid native decided to go all in, trying to take advantage of all the opportunities presented, under excellent conditions, and ended up with a 72 for a total of PAR.
Gonzalo had hoped for something more, but he had to fight hard and struggle face to face with the course of the fourth major of the season. He only made five pars in 18 holes, with an eagle after an extraordinary shot on the 4th hole that almost resulted in an albatross, a double bogey, six bogeys and five birdies. He gave it his all in every aspect of the game, and he deserved a better payoff.
A good example of the incredible shots he made are the birdies on the 2nd and the 14th, two of the most difficult holes at Valhalla. On the first one, he caught the green from 200 years out and made an amazing putt from slightly less than six meters away, whereas on the second, he had another fantastic shot from 200 yards out, leaving the ball just over two meters away from the hole.
Gonzalo is behind in the rankings, but there are still 18 holes left to finish with a low score and to move up in position in this PGA Championship.
