Gonzalo never backs down, and that alone deserves acknowledgment. After a dark, difficult day, the inertia could have gotten the best of him for lack of motivation. Not even close. He would never let that bring him down, but less so in Bridgestone, a tour date of the WGC with no cut in which 54 more holes is sufficient to cover ground, and most of all, to get the good vibes back.
In Canada, he overcame various obstacles with an excellent final position, and the second day at Akron, he enjoyed a more 'normal' round of golf, once again, after the nine over par. The Spanish golfer came out with five pars (one of them on the 3rd, where the major blow happened on the first round) and on the 6th, he landed his first birdie, although three consecutive bogeys afterward to finish off the first nine holes put him at a partial of +2. He made another error on the 12th, but he continued to battle it out to come up for a breath of fresh air on the 13th and the 14th, finishing with four pars for a 71, bringing things back to normalcy.
Gonzalo now faces the challenge of bringing his score down to below par during the next two rounds to come, gain back confidence and even move up in position to secure his ranking in the FedEX after the high from Canada that won him the card for 2015.
