Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño starts up again this Thursday at the John Deere Classic of the PGA Tour, precursor to the Open Championship that will be held at the TPC Deer Run course in Illinois. The British tournament is is an attractive, sweet enough distraction to take the focus off the game, but this isn't the case for the Madrid native.
Gonzalo has all eyes on the prize in preparation for a good week of golf in the US before leaving for England. There will be time soon enough to think about the Open. Now, the PGA Tour card takes priority this season, and he's presented with another great opportunity at getting that much closer to the goal. It's a good week to regroup and reap the harvest of all his hard work, no better way to put it considering the sponsor of the tournament manufactures farming machinery.
The issue of accumulating points in the tournaments still isn't too pressing because there are many important dates to go before the FedEX playoffs, but Gonzalo is ready to move forward toward his objective and be able to think beyond the PGA Tour card.
The opening of the tournament will commence at 19:35 this Thursday, Spanish time. Fernández-Castaño will play together with Jerry Kelly and Luke Guthrie.
