Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-2) is currently in the top 25 of the Open de France after the first round at Le Golf National. Great start. Gonzalo left the course today with his head held high after four birdies and two bogeys.
The irons were key to the Spanish golfer’s good performance. He hit almost 80 percent of the regulation greens, placing him as one of the top golfers in this aspect of the game, and that was even after not having such great tee shots. He brought out the best in his game today on the second shots.
Gonzalo shot two under par, without having taken advantage of any of the par 5s on the course, which proves that he’s still got plenty of room to work with in Paris.
