Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-1) will have the opportunity to solve the European Tour Card once and for all this week in the Italian Open. The golfer from Madrid shot a 69 this Friday and made the cut, a crucial and very important step in attempt to accumulate the most amount of points possible in order to get closer to, or even secure his spot among the top 110 in the Race to Dubai.
It’s important to note that in order to guarantee the rights to play, he would need to finish in the top twelve. He is currently five shots from this objective, a considerable distance, but far from impossible.
Another day in which Gonzalo was able to take full advantage of the par 5s at the Olgiata Golf Club in Rome, host to the tournament. Of the five birdies he made this Friday, three were on the longest holes.
This Saturday, he’ll play with Oliver Fisher starting at 8:48 am, local time. The goal is to play a solid game of golf, and to make progress in getting closer to the head of the tournament.
