Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will compete in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship starting this Thursday, a unique tournament on the European Tour calendar, played in Pro Am format on three different courses, and the cut will be established on Saturday after the third round.
It’s not an easy tournament by any means. A lot of patience is required, seeing as how it’s normally a much slower game than usual. It is made up of games of four, with two amateurs, which evidently slows things down. In any event, a great opportunity to accumulate points, which are crucial in Gonzalo’s mission to save the card.
The tournament will be held on the Old Course at St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie. Gonzalo will start out on the Old Course. Coincidentally, he will be going through the same rotation that Tyrrell Hatton did when he took home the win in 2017. Good vibes.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday alongside Andy Sullivan, and not only will they change courses each day, but also golfers with whom they are paired.
