Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will play in the BMW PGA Championship starting this Thursday, part of the luxury Rolex Series in the European Tour, held on the West Course at Wentworth, in Virginia Water, West London.
It’s not just another week on the calendar. Far from it. It’s THE Major of the season for Gonzalo, the best tournament he’ll play in this year, in part due to the points granted toward the world ranking, and also because of the caliber of golfers. Thus, it’s a big opportunity for Gonzalo.
The BMW PGA Championship could turn the season around completely. So much so, in fact, that with a top 10 at Wentworth, Gonzalo could secure the card for next season. Definitely not just another day at the office.
The big news this season is that the tournament has moved, not physically, but seasonally. After more than forty years being held in May, it has moved to September. The course is in perfect condition, and the weather forecast is relatively good for London, and for being so far above the equator in the month of September.
Gonzalo will play very early on Thursday, with Tappio Pulkkanen and Soren Kjeldsen.
