Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+1) shot a 73 in the first round of the KLM Open, one over par for the day, leaving him far from the top of the pack for the time being.
The Spanish golfer played in the morning today, more favorable playing conditions, seeing as how the wind kicked in stronger in the afternoon, but he wasn’t able to take full advantage of the situation. His stats on the regulation greens were marginal (11/18), and he wasn’t particularly strong on his recoveries around the green either, closing the round with three birdies and four bogeys.
In any event, the provisional cut is positioned at PAR after the first round, and this Friday it could even go up to +1 or +2, depending on the weather conditions, thus Gonzalo’s situation is far from dire, and a solid, balanced round should get him through to the weekend, no problem.
The golfer from Madrid will play in the second round in the International in Amsterdam starting at 1:05 pm, alongside Malaysian golfer, Gavin Green and Belgian golfer, Nicolas Colsaerts.
