The first round of the Scottish Open was a true birdie fest at the Renaissance Club, with four golfers tied for the lead at the end of the round with an accumulated total of -8, 63 shots (Wattel, Kuchar, Bertasio and Molinari).
It was crucial to be accurate on the greens in order to stay at the top of the pack with such a demanding flow of birdies, and Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-5) pulled it off. His putter was on point, up to par so to speak, like it has been for a while now.
But if there’s anything the Spanish golfer was pleased with at the end of the day, it was his improvement with the driver on the tee shots. He was much more precise with this particular club in hand, which has been the source of constant headache as of late.
