Just a few months ago, in October of last year, Gonzalo Fernández Castaño finished the tournament at Valderrama visibly emotional. It was the last one of the year. The last bullet of the line in his ammo to keep the card. The golfer from Madrid went all in, achieved his best performance in a very long time and accomplished his mission.
And that’s how Gonzalo will embark upon his second mission at Valderrama, with the good memories to guide him through. The Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters will commence this Thursday, same place, different time, with a better prize pool, and a course in completely different conditions than last time. There is no sign of rain this week, and the heat and the hard, fast greens will be the center of attention, the main enemies.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday in one of the first games of the day, alongside Pablo Larrazábal and Richard McEvoy.
