Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will return to competition this week in the BMW International Open, a classic in the European Tour (tournament which will be celebrating its 30-year anniversary), held at the Golfclub Eichenried. The golfer from Madrid will go into the tournament at his best moment in the season, after having made three top 25s in his last three tournaments.
In fact, in the Belgian Knockout, the last of the three, he finished in fifth place in the stroke play phase, the first two rounds, although he was eliminated quickly in the head-to-head play. These outstanding results have helped him make a comeback in the Race to Dubai (now in 137th place), and that is precisely the main objective for this week: to continue to play on the weekends and thus, continue to accumulate points, which will help him move up in the ranking. All that, considering his current level of confidence allows him to aim for more ambitious goals.
The Spanish golfer will play on Thursday morning, starting at 9:00 am, alongside English golfer, David Howell and German golfer, Florian Fritsch.
