Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+2) did not make the cut in the BMW International Open after shooting a 71 in the second round under par, but not enough, however, to make it through to the weekend.
The Spanish golfer had lots of problems with his tee to green game, too inconsistent in the first two rounds. He improved significantly on Friday on the greens, and had some fantastic plays on recoveries around the green, but he clearly needed a round below seventy shots, and he couldn’t quite manage to pull it off.
Now it’s onward and upward for the golfer from Madrid, who already has his sights set on the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters held at Valderrama next week. It’s a course that brings back excellent memories for Gonzalo, seeing as how it was there only a few months ago where he secured the rights to play in the European Tour. Although it's also a course where mistakes in the long game are paid at a high price, to say the least, even more so than the German Golf Club München Eichenried, which means Gonzalo will need to improve in that aspect of the game in order to have a good tournament.
