Another test for Gonzalo Fernández Castaño in the Belgian Knockout, after having passed the exam with flying colors in the British Masters and the Made in Denmark. Now, the Spanish golfer, with a renewed sense of confidence in a much more refined version of his game, is up for the challenge of a new format this weekend, the first two rounds are stroke play, with the objective of making it to the top 64 in order to make it to head to head play, which will happen on Saturday and Sunday in medal match play format.
And before evening going into the competition, there's already a very positive point for Gonzalo. It's the Rinkven International Golf Club, host to the tournament, located on the outskirts of Amberes, on an old-fashioned course that Gonzalo has never played on before, but which reminds him of other courses like the Dutch Hilversum, where he he's had great success in the past. He fell for the course as soon as he laid eyes on it.
Whatever happens on the Belgian course this week, the Spanish golfer is eager to play in the US Open qualifying tournament, held this Monday at the British Walton Heath Golf Club. Fernández Castaño will play this Thursday starting at 12:45 am, with Danish golfer, Lasse Jensen and French golfer, Victor Perez.
