Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+1) shot a 72 in the second round of the Made in Denmark, one over par for the day, sufficient to make the cut and a chance at a comeback to aim for the top of the tournament over the weekend, starting out at nine shots from the sole leader, Austrian golfer, Matthias Schwab.
What the Spanish golfer managed to pull off is no small feat, for two fundamental reasons. The first, because he was able to make two cuts in a row in the European Tour (in his last appearance in the British Masters, he finished in 25th place), and the last time he was able to do that was July 2018. And the second, because he pulled it off amidst some very difficult playing conditions in the morning, with almost constant rain throughout the entire round, and gusty winds that got up to speeds of 40 kilometers per hour.
Thus, it was a grueling challenge that truly put his game and his mental stability to the test, seeing as how the Spanish golfer finished with a birdie on the 14th hole and four consecutive pars, just enough to get him through to the weekend. Additionally, he was dealt the worst hand on the roster, because the afternoon games this Friday had less wind and almost no rain, mostly in the last two hours.
Gonzalo will play in the third round, fourth game of the day, starting at 7:27 am, with British golfer, Richard McEvoy. The weather will continue to be more or less the same as the previous days: wind is expected from the very start of the day, although there is no rain in the forecast.
