Gonzalo Fernández Castaño did not make the cut in the South Africa Open, held this week at the Randpark Golf Club. The course in Johannesburg didn’t cut the golfer from Madrid a break, no room to breathe. Long, tough week. Two birdies in 36 holes, two rounds over par and a total score of +5.
Gonzalo finished eight shots away from the final established cut line, further proof of the this week’s difficulties. No choice other than to wipe the slate clean and start fresh as quickly as possible, and to start focusing on next week.
Gonzalo’s not going anywhere, staying put in South Africa. He’ll play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at Leopard Creek. It will be the last tournament of an intense year in 2018, in which he juggled the Web.com Tour and the European Tour. It will be his 34th tournament.
