Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+2) shot a 69 in the second round of the Hong Kong Open, and thus, did not make the cut, despite the notable improvement with respect to the first round. In fact, he missed out on playing this weekend at the Hong Kong Golf Club by just one shot, due to the fact that the scores were better in general, and in perfect playing conditions.
The golfer from Madrid was much more solid on his second shots, to the point where he caught more than eighty percent of the regulation greens (15/18), but he wasn’t as on point, nor as lucky with putter in order to have been able accomplish more under the circumstances. However, on the 11th, 12th and 13th holes, he made three birdies in a row, which meant he was full fledge in the fight to play over the weekend, although the bogey on the 15th ended up being the factor that bumped him out.
The Spanish golfer will stay in Hong Kong to practice over the weekend before traveling to The Mauritius Islands, where he’ll play next week in the Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open, his second stop in the 2019 European Tour.
