It’s final now: the Andalucía Valderrama Masters will finish on Monday, after two suspensions on Sunday, the first one for an hour, and a second definitive one, due to the electric storm that struck down on the course. At the moment, Gonzalo Fernández Castaño has a partial score of -2 on eight holes, and an accumulated score of -6, which puts him in third place, four shots from the leader, Sergio García.
Thus, the golfer from Madrid cut down two shots distance from the leader, so his chances of winning are greater than before starting the third and final round (the tournament will be concluded after 54 holes). On the other hand, his situation has also improved as far as his main goal for this week, which was to make it to the top 15 of the rankings in order to secure a spot in the top 116 in the Race to Dubai and, thus, secure the rights to play in the European Tour 2019. He now has a five-shot advantage on his first goal.
Gonzalo made birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes and, in general, he had things under control this round, very solid on his long game. On Monday, the round will start at 9:10 in the morning (Spanish time), if the rain and lightning permit.
