Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-1) did not make the cut in the Alfred Dunhill Links after shooting a 68 on the Old Course at St. Andrews in the third round, a good score and great reaction to yesterday’s performance, although insufficient in making the cut, which became quite complicated after shooting a 77 on Friday.
The rhythm of birdies, with the absence of wind, was high on all three courses in the tournament (Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St. Andrews), which made it even more difficult for the Spanish golfer, who today, in any event, brought out the best version of his game again, the same as on Thursday, with a total of six birdies.
Fernández Castaño will play next week in the British Masters at the Walton Heath Golf Club (Surrey, England), the first of two opportunities that are still left to accumulate the necessary amount of euros in order to secure his rights to play in the European Tour next year. The Andalucía Valderrama Masters the following week, where he’s also guaranteed his presence, will be the second.
