Extraordinary start for Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, after shooting a 70 at Kingsbarns, one of the three courses in the rotation in this tournament (the other two are Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews).
His score is even more noteworthy when taking into consideration that only 24 golfers shot below par, seeing as how the playing conditions complicated things, very cold and lots of wind. Thus, the Spanish golfer is currently well into the top ten of the tournament, and just two shots away from the leaders, British golfer, Matt Wallace and Australian golfer, Marcus Fraser.
Gonzalo, who will be playing in the second round at Carnoustie starting at 11:17 am (Spanish time), finished with three consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes, keeping the good vibes rolling from the last two weeks in Portugal.
