Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will be playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Pro-Am classic tournament, now on the European Tour calendar, held on three Scottish links courses: Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and the Old Course at St. Andrews.
The Spanish golfer will go into the tournament after finishing off a solid week in Portugal, where he played all four rounds under par and ended up in 27th place, and he’s confident he can continue to improve in the rankings in this tournament with a significant prize pool, and thus, could be the definitive round in reaching his goal of maintaining the European Tour card for 2019. He’s currently in 128th place in the Race to Dubai, and it’s highly likely that a top ten this week would secure him a spot in the top 110 in the Race to Dubai rankings, which is the ultimate goal.
The golfer from Madrid will play alongside Alejandro Cañizares on Kingsbarns, and on Friday he’ll play with Danish golfer Lasse Jensen on Carnoustie, and Saturday with Australian golfer Scott Hend at St. Andrews (as soon as the cut is established after the third round, the fourth and definitive round will also be played on the Old Course).
