Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-11) finished in a noteworthy 27th place in the Portugal Masters, after shooting a 70, the fourth and consecutive round under par for the week, which left an excellent taste in his mouth.
Gonzalo will leave the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course on a high note with good news: “I finally managed to translate what I was working on in the practice rounds to the competition, and I have it very clear what I need to continue working on throughout these next days”, he remarked just upon finishing the tournament.
The golfer from Madrid only made four bogeys in four rounds of golf, having finished two rounds without errors, the first and the third, although the final results were insufficient to reach his main objective, which is to maintain the rights to play in the European Tour in 2019. Fernández Castaño still has three opportunities to do it (Alfred Dunhill Links, British Masters and Andalucía Valderrama Masters), and his time in Portugal brought back a big bout of confidence.
