The golfer from Madrid isn’t quite at the top of his game, mostly because the driver still isn’t functioning at its full potential, but it’s surely why he’s quite satisfied with what he’s been capable of, along with all of the small improvements he’s been incorporating throughout the week, round after round (in the third round, for example, he felt really comfortable with the irons). Although there have been a lot of really good scores on the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Gonzalo shot under a 70 in three consecutive rounds, which is great for bolstering his confidence.
It can be an important week on his quest to maintain the European Tour card, but Gonzalo doesn’t want to put any kind of pressure on himself, with the idea of taking it shot by shot, much more so when considering that after the break the week of the Ryder, he’ll be able to play at the Alfred Dunhill Links in Scotland (he has an invitation), the British Masters and later at Valderrama, so there is room to work with and opportunities ahead. However, it’s worth noting that the top ten of the tournament is just two shots away…
