Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will play in the Portugal Masters starting this Thursday, tee-off on the 1st hole of the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course (Vilamoura, Algarve), with Swedish golfer Sebastian Soderberg and Italian golfer Lorenzo Gagli.
The Spanish golfer needs a good score to maintain his rights to play in the European Tour in 2019, and can seal the deal this week if he finishes in fourth place or above. Otherwise, he would need a solid score to be able to reach his goal in the upcoming tournaments to finish the job.
Gonzalo firmly believes he’s not so far off from the best version of his game, although he still feels that his commitment to the shot when he’s already over the ball isn’t always correct or necessary. He’s been working on that aspect of the game on Portuguese terrain over the past few days, together with his coach, José Carlos Gutiérrez.
