Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+2) did not make the cut in the KLM Open after shooting a 75 in the second round, after things just didn’t go his way. The Spanish golfer wasn’t able to adapt to the tougher playing conditions at the Dutch (Spijk, Holland), to the point at which he finished the round with just one birdie and five bogeys. The wind really complicated things, and as a result, the number of golfers who were able to beat the course went down with respect to the first round.
For the moment, the golfer from Madrid has not moved up in the rankings in the Race to Dubai since his return to the European Tour last week in Switzerland. Gonzalo, in any event, will still have more opportunities to fix his delicate situation in the European Tour, where he has yet to secure the rights to play next year. He’ll be playing in the Portuguese Masters next week, a tournament and course that he knows very well, and where he’s also been able to get good results in the past.
