Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will play in the Omega European Masters starting this Thursday. The golfer from Madrid is back to the European Tour and revisiting the second major goal of the season. The next month and a half will determine whether or not he’ll maintain the European Tour card, a mission that’s only halfway complete due to the difficulty of alternating this tour with the Web.com Tour.
From now on, up until the final of the Web.com Qualifying in December, Gonzalo will focus on Europe. The first stop is this week in Switzerland, on the epic Crans Sur Sierre course. Gonzalo is back after a five-year hiatus. His last appearance was in 2013, and he finished in 49th place.
Gonzalo has done quite well in the past on this course, situated at the foot of the Alps. Out of the eight times he’s played in the tournament, he only missed the cut once, and he pulled out of the tournament on one other occasion. His best performance was a sixth place in 2007.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday starting at two in the afternoon, Spanish time, with Stephen Gallacher and Callum Shinkwin.
