Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño came out of the third round of the Spanish Open with a 71. It's his first round of the PGA Catalonia tournament under par, a course in which he hasn't quite managed to feel totally comfortable on, although that didn't stop him from coming out on top.
The general feeling was the same as the first two days. The Spanish golfer made some good shots, combined with a few errors here and there. It's exactly those bad shots that keep him from coming closer to the head of the tournament. Even so, his plan isn't to back down now, especially with how close the rankings are, it's all or nothing tomorrow in a race to the top, and why not shoot for top ten?
At the moment, Gonzalo is in 41st place, five shots away from the top ten, a more than appealing goal.
As far as the tournament, Thomas Pieters is the sole leader, while Miguel Ángel Jiménez follows close behind, just two shots away. The course is getting harder as the tournament evolves. Clear evidence is that only fourteen players are under par.
