Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-7) lost some ground in the KC Golf Classic after the third round, despite having shot a 70, under par for the day, but insufficient score on a course, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate (Overland Park, Kansas) where many low scores were registered, once again.
Victory is now out of reach for the golfer from Madrid, seeing as how he’ll start Sunday off at fourteen shots away from the leader, American golfer Kyle Jones. However, every spot he moves up in the rankings will be crucial to his ranking in the regular season, now close to finishing. Remember that Gonzalo needs to secure his place in the top 25 of those rankings to guarantee a spot in the four tournaments of the Tour Finals, and he is currently in 68th place.
His round was too inconsistent, with a notable production of birdies (the Spanish golfer accumulated six), but combined with excessive errors on the card, accumulated by his long game.
That being said, the golfer from Madrid fought to the end to win the duel with the course, which he achieved with a birdie for the finale on the 18th hole.
