Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño is back at home. The Spanish golfer will play in the PGA Catalonia tournament starting this Thursday at the Spanish Open, one of the most special dates of the season, and this year, even more so. The reason is Paula and this is her story.
She's a young girl, age 14, who suffered from Ewing's Sarcoma in her back, one of the most aggressive types of tumors that exist. Her passions is horseback riding, and her dream is to compete in an international dressage competition. She told her story to Make a Wish and, thanks to Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño and Spanish golf as a whole, she's that much closer to making her dream a reality.
The Spanish golfer launched a nice initiative through the social networks, and the responses were endearing. The players will donate 100 euros for each birdie they make this week to help Paula's dream come true. All the Spanish golfers have come together on this project, and a good part of the foreigners as well, among which are Matteo Manassero, Francesco Molinari and Thomos Bjorn. “It's even more motivation now, and very important. This Sunday, even if you're on the 17th hole without any chance of winning the tournament, you can still go for the birdie and put everything you have into it”, Gonzalo explained.
As far as the tournament, Fernández-Castaño will play on Thursday starting at 13:10 along with Nicolas Colsaerts and Matteo Manassero.
