Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-1) shot a 70 in the first round of the Knoxville Open, bumping him into ‘the warm zone’, very close to the top ten, all doors still open at the moment and three rounds to go.
The Spanish golfer, who began on the 10th hole at the Fox Den Country Club (Knoxville, Tennessee), started out with with ten pars in a row, maintaining the balance and staying focused, with lots of patience. Gonzalo, who was quite solid off the tee, managed to save five of the six recoveries he came up against, excellent news considering the fact that it hasn't exactly been the strong point of his game this season.
He’ll play in the second round in the afternoon session (starting at 6:15 PM, Spanish time), five shots away from the leader, American golfer Ryan Brehm.
