Gonzalo Fernández Castaño did not make the cut in the Knoxville Open after shooting a 72 in the second round. Just at the limit, with an accumulated total of PAR, but not enough to play over the weekend, by one shot. The golfer from Madrid finished in a desperate attempt to salvage what he had fought for at the Fox Den Golf Country Club (Knoxville, Tennessee) with a birdie on the 18th hole, but his fate in the tournament was sealed in the two holes prior, both bogeys, which left him with practically no room to work with.
The Spanish golfer had a tough time from tee to green in the second round, and he wasn’t as on point as Thursday in his recoveries around the green, although in reality, he had things under control up until the sloppy ending. Evidently, Gonzalo will lose ground in the Web.com Tour rankings, farther off from the top 25, the main goal, although there is still more than enough time left in the season to recover. He really only needs one big week for things to start looking up for the remainder of the season.
