Gonzalo Fernández Castaño is back in action this week in the Knoxville Open, after having pulled off his best score in a long time in the Web.com Tour (he finished in 24th place in Indiana a few weeks ago, breaking a dry spell of missed cuts) and thus, having regained his confidence back. The objective continues to be the same, of course: to get closer to the top 25 in the Web.com Tour rankings (he is currently in 43rd place).
In order to do that, he’s going to have to go on the attack in the fox’s den, as the beautiful course is called where the tournament will be held, the Fox Den Country Club, close to Knoxville, Tennessee, founded almost half a century ago in a place where they were in abundance, and hunted. And it’s no easy task: just like the winning scores on this course reveal in the past years, it’s fundamental to play well on the greens, as the highest score has been up to and even surpassed an accumulated total of -20, if the playing conditions are good, which is what this week’s forecast shows in Knoxville.
The golfer from Madrid will play this Thursday in one of the first games of the day, starting at 1:10 pm (Spanish time).
