The final stretch at the Victoria Golf Club in Indiana took a toll on Gonzalo’s card once again. The golfer from Madrid was on his way to finishing with a solid performance in the Web.com Tour United Leasing & Finance Championship, to the point of battling it out for a spot in the top five, up until the last five holes.
Gonzalo made four bogeys during the last leg of the round, causing him to lose quite a bit of ground. He finished in 24th place. Thus, he was left with a bitter taste in his mouth, righteously so, although it’s important to draw from the positive points. After several weeks of not making the cut, the Spanish golfer managed to tweak his game well enough to be fighting for one of the top positions in the tournament. Something clicked in Gonzalo’s game, and that’s what he’s got to hold onto. It should be a definitive moment for Gonzalo considering the fact that he had to pull out of a tournament just over a week ago due to problems with his wrist.
Gonzalo managed to put the pieces back together in Indiana and there’s no choice other than to keep pushing toward his main goal of the season, securing a spot in the top 25 of the Web.com Tour rankings to earn the card back.
