Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (PAR) shot a 73 in the second round of the Web.com Tour United Leasing & Finance Championship and not only made the cut, he’s also at the top of the rankings.
The golfer from Madrid knew how to endure a tough day at the Victoria Golf Club in Indiana. He was at the mercy of the demanding hand of the course itself, together with the complicated conditions, with wind and hard greens. It was survival mode and Gonzalo was definitely one of the fittest. His round, in fact, was outstanding, to the point of beating the course with two holes left to the finish line, well into the top ten of the tournament.
However, a bittersweet ending with two bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes caused him to lose some ground in the rankings. Be that as it may, the scoreboard is very tight and there’s more than enough room to work with, even to make it to the fight for the win.
Gonzalo is currently two shots from the top ten and seven from the leader, American golfer Maverick McNealy.
