Gonzalo Fernández Castaño had to bid a premature farewell in the North Mississippi Classic, Web.com Tour tournament which started this Thursday at the Country Club of Oxford.
The Spanish golfer had only played thirteen holes before having to stop early due to pain in his left wrist. A significant setback.
Gonzalo himself published his reasons for stopping short on social media. He tried to keep playing, but decided to pull out before making the injury worse. There was no way he could continue.
Now, the objective is to get to the root of the problem and start the treatment to recover as quickly as possible.
The golfer from Madrid expressed his dismay at having to cut the tournament short. He apologized to the sponsor, the host, his fellow golfers and to the first golfer on the waiting list.
