Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño gave it everything he had to make the cut in the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, Web.com Tour tournament, happening this week at the Le Triomphe Golf Club in Broussard.
Gonzalo shot a 72, with three birdies and four bogeys, and ended up just one shot short of the objective. The bogey on the 15th hole was definitive, although he continued to fight on the following three holes, creating good opportunities, however, the putts just didn’t want land in the hole.
Gonzalo improved on his game from tee to green substantially on Thursday in spite of the weather conditions with wind, which was much worse in the second round. In any event, a small setback for the Spanish golfer, who lost some ground with respect to the fight to finish the year out in the top 25 of the Web.com Tour.
The good thing is that next week, he’ll have a chance at a comeback. He’ll be playing in the Savannah Golf Championship in Georgia, a great opportunity to get the bad taste out of his mouth and the take another stab at Web.com Tour ranking.
