Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño is back in action this week in the Web.com Tour. He’ll be playing in the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, a true classic on the second division PGA Tour calendar. It’s been held since 1992 every year without fail, and within the winner’s circle are brilliant golfers, such as Jimmy Walker, Johnson Wagner and Wesley Bryan.
The tournament will be held at the Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club, in Broussard, considered to be one of the best designs in the US, built in 1962. It opened in 1986, and the design has Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s seal of approval. Gonzalo will be playing there for the first time.
The main objective this week is for Gonzalo to keep the same good vibes coming from the start of the season. Remember that he’s already accumulated three top tens, two in the Web.com Tour and one in the European Tour. A good performance this week would take him back up to the top 25 in the Web.com rankings, without a doubt the most important part of this year, as it would grant him direct access to the PGA Tour card.
Gonzalo will play with Max Rottluff and Brock Mackenzie starting at 3:30 pm, Spanish time.
