Second week in a row for Gonzalo Fernández Castaño in the European Tour, this time in the Qatar Masters after having missed the cut last week in Oman. Despite this minor setback, the golfer from Madrid will go into the tournament very focused and at a good point in his game, ready to bring in the first euros of the season on this side of the Atlantic.
It was five years ago that Gonzalo last set foot on the Doha Golf Club, where the tournament has always been held, and Gonzalo’s old stomping grounds where in his last two appearances, he took 12th place (2012) and 16th place (2013). This is his ninth edition of the Qatar Masters, the first was in 2009, when his friend, Álvaro Quirós, took home the title, who will also be participating in this year’s tournament.
Fernández Castaño will play on Thursday in the morning session along with another Spanish golfer, Carlos Pigmen, and French golfer Raphael Jacquelin (at 6:10 am, Spanish time).
