Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-6) shot PAR in the third round of the Club Colombia Championship, and thus losing some ground with respect to the top of the rankings, with British golfer Ben Taylor as sole leader (-12), who will play in the last round with a three-shot advantage over his opponents.
Despite the rocky start at the beginning of the round, with a partial score of three over par during that stretch, he was able to maintain the focus and make a comeback, little by little. On the back nine, the birdies finally started to come and the final score of 71 shots at the Bogotá Country Club secured his return to the hot spot in the rankings, and left the golfer from Madrid at the brink of the top ten, with many options open despite having been bumped down quite a few spots in this difficult, hot and cold round (five birdies and five bogeys). He’s currently just three shots away from second place, and we already know how important it is to finish high up in the rankings in this tour for the overall assessment.
Fernández Castaño will play this Sunday at 5:20 pm (Spanish time) with the blatant objective of attacking and to continue to move up, but without losing sight of the game, because in reality, he has already been making a good amount of birdies, round after round.
