Back to the routine. Hurricane Irma has come and gone, along with the long road trip to bring Gonzalo’s family to safety. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will be playing in the Albertsons Boise Open starting this Thursday, second stop of the Web.com Tour Finals.
Conditions were less than ideal to get prepared. Gonzalo knows it. But there was no other option. His family’s safety comes first. The Madrid native arrived to Boise without having practically picked up a club last week, but still feels good.
On the one hand, he’s got the relieving feeling that his loved ones are okay after the hurricane in Miami. And on the other hand, he’s playing on a course he has good memories from after what happened last year. He finished in the top ten, playing at a very high level, and practically having secured his spot in the PGA Tour for this year. That can all compensate for the lack of practice prior to the tournament.
Gonzalo will go into the Boise Open in the top 25 in the order of merit in the finals, which means, he’s within his goal, which he needs to achieve to earn back the rights to compete in the PGA Tour. Also transmitting comforting, positive vibes.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday starting at 9:23 pm, Spanish time. There’s an eight hour time difference.
