Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-1) had a solid performance in the second round of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Open, first tournament of the Web.com Tour Finals. The Spanish golfer shot par and is still in the top 25, just three shots from sixth place.
Gonzalo felt comfortable and at ease once again on the Scarlet course at Ohio State University. He made four birdies, a powerful stat when considering how complicated the course is and that the playing conditions were less than favorable, cold and windy throughout the majority of the day.
Once he made the cut, Gonzalo had no choice but to push forward and to continue playing well from tee to green. He had more difficulties with the drive yesterday, but he responded well with the irons.
Today, he’ll play in the third round with Cameron Tringale and Scott Hend starting at 2:32 pm. The schedule has been moved up due to a bad weather forecast in the area.
