Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño started the Web.com Tour Finals off by landing a birdie from the bunker on the first hole. Undoubtedly, a great sign to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
The Madrid native shot a 70 in the first round of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, opening tournament of the Finals, held on the Scarlet course at Ohio State University. He’s currently under par, in the top 25 in the rankings, just two shots away from the top ten.
Gonzalo got off to a solid start. His game from tee to green was on point, and he left several options for birdie, although surely not as close as the Spanish golfer would have liked. He made two birdies and just one bogey, excellent news for the rest of the tournament.
Thus, Gonzalo is very well positioned going into the second round, today starting at 1:30 pm, Spanish time.
