Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+1) missed the cut in the RBC Canadian Open, PGA Tour tournament. The Madrid native shot a 71 in the second round on the Glen Abbey GC course in Ontario, and finished far from the objective. The first round was too heavy of a burden to come back from.
Gonzalo made four birdies yesterday and three bogeys, with a very solid long game, having caught almost eighty percent of the greens. However, his putt just wasn't there. He made one good one for birdie from five meters away, but afterward he let six opportunities go by from six meters away on a downward slope.
Thus, Gonzalo will move forward and focus on the next tournament, the Barracuda Championship held next week, coinciding with the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. A new opportunity to reach his goal and to maintain the card. In order to secure it, he would need a win, although there’s still one more tournament left before the end of the regular season: the Wyndham Championship.
