Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will play in the RBC Canadian Open starting this Thursday on the Glen Abbey Golf Club course in Ontario, a place that brings back great memories for the Spanish golfer. The first and last time he played here was three years ago, and he managed to earn the PGA Tour card with a magnificent fourth place.
Gonzalo will go into the tournament with the necessity of a low score in order to continue in the fight for the PGA Tour card for next year. He is currently in 182th place in the FedEX Cup, more than 200 points from 125th place, the line that divides those who will maintain the card for next year and those who will have to continue on to fight in the Web.com Final Series Tour.
In 2014, Gonzalo had an extraordinary week with four cards under 70 shots, an excellent memory which should serve as the perfect base to work from this week. Keep in mind that after the RBC Canadian Open, there will only be two tournaments left to finish out the regular season: Barracuda Championship and Wyndham Championship.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday starting at 1:45 pm, local time (six hours more in Spain), with Martin Flores and C.T. Pan.
