Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+5) got off to a rocky start in the Barbasol Championship after shooting a 76 in the RTJ Golf Trail Grand National Lakes in Alabama, leaving him at the bottom of the rankings, far from the provisional leaders (the round should finish today, suspended due to lack of light) and, what's worse, from the provisional cut currently situated at -1.
An erratic start to the round, with a partial of four over par on the first four holes, was too heavy of a burden to bare for the Spanish golfer, who, nevertheless, attempted to get back into it on the 5th hole, creating another option that he wasn't able to convert in the end. Two bogeys on the par 5s on the back nine dug him even deeper in the hole, because the Madrid native didn't manage to make up for lost ground from his long game on the greens either.
His chance of making it through to the weekend for a second round are slim, although a good objective would be to simply just get the good vibes flowing again and consistency from tee to green.
