Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will play this Thursday in the Barbasol Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Grand National Lakes in Alabama. A tournament held the same week as the British Open and a new opportunity for the Spanish golfer to definitively turn things around this season.
Fernández Castaño will attempt to consolidate his new line of work adopted these past weeks, with the idea of improving his results immediately if the opportunity presents itself, but also with the objective of getting to the Web.com finals in prime condition, where he would have another chance to maintain the right to the PGA Tour card for the 2017-2018 season.
Evidently, the caliber of the tournament isn’t as high nor as powerful as in the previous weeks, and the prize pool is also substantially less, 3.5 million dollars, although it won’t make it any easier to get a better score as there are many professionals who are playing on a par 71 course on which there are usually quite a few low-scoring cards.
Gonzalo will play on Thursday afternoon with Chesson Hadley and Ken Duke, starting at 1:15 pm (8:15 pm Spanish time).
