Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (PAR) turned the tables on the Greenbrier Classic in the second round of the PGA Tour tournament held on TPC Old White course in West Virginia.
The Spanish golfer was solid off the tee, upped his number of birdies and shot a spectacular 67, which allowed him to move up quite a bit in the rankings, although it wasn’t enough to make the cut in the end. He came so close...
Gonzalo, who caught eleven fairways and eleven greens, putter on point, ended up just one shot away from the cut, one birdie short of the goal, which he truly deserved after Friday’s performance. On the last three holes, he putted for birdie after saving a magnificent par on the 15th with a putt from three meters away. However, he wasn’t able to convert any of the options he created.
He’ll play in the John Deere Classic next week, another opportunity to prove that his game is much closer than it seems to making it into the fight for the top spots in the rankings.
