Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will compete in the Travelers Championship starting this Thursday, PGA Tour tournament held on TPC River Highlands course in Cromwell, Connecticut.
The Madrid native will go into the tournament after a great practice week in the US Open. In fact, although we’ll say it with certain precaution due to the inconsistent nature of golf, he’s going into the Travelers with good vibes.
Gonzalo knows he has to accumulate points quickly to secure his spot among the top 125 in the FedEX Cup and thus the PGA Tour card for next season. This is a good week. The tournament will bring high-level golfers together (15 of the top 50), but he’s convinced that he can do well. He’s played in the Travelers three times before and the results haven’t been consistent. It’s true that he’s missed the cut twice, but he just missed it by a few shots, and in 2014 he finished in 26th place.
Gonzalo will play this Thursday with Graham DeLaet and Mark Wilson starting at 7:10 am local time, 1:10 pm Spanish time.
