Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+3) shot a 73 in the first round of the FedEX St. Jude Classic, tournament held at TPC Southwind in Memphis, with four leaders at the moment, American golfers Stewart Cink, Scott Brown and Matt Every and Colombian golfer Sebastián Muñoz, all sitting at -6.
The Madrid native will have to fight hard in the second round in order to make the cut, which is now situated at +1. He’ll have to make another comeback, a common denominator from the first half of the season to date.
The Spanish golfer wasn’t very solid from tee to green, and this time the putt did not help him avoid shooting a round over par, finishing with a bogey on the 18th after missing a putt from a meter and a half away. Today he’ll need to shoot around a 69 (the course is a par 70) in order to make it through to the weekend. Gonzalo will play this Friday starting at 1:10 pm (at 8:10 pm Spanish time).
