Gonzalo Fernández Castaño and Martin Flores finished the first round of the Zurich Classic, pairs tournament, with a round of foursome for par, which puts them at just one shot away from making the cut at the end of the day (the top 35 pairs and ties make the cut after the second round of four ball).
he Spanish and American golfers were solid on the short putts and saved at least six delicate situations throughout the round at TPC Louisiana, sinking putts from a meter and a half away. The score for par isn’t bad in this style of play, although the leading pairs (Stanley-Ruffles and Spieth Palmer) both shot a 66, spectacular.
This Friday, in the first four ball, they need to churn out birdies to make their way closer to the top and, most of all, to make the cut. The Madrid native and the Texan will play starting at 12:05 (7:05 pm Spanish time).
