Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-5) finished in 62nd place in the Puerto Rico Open after shooting a 71 in the last round. American golfer D.A. Points (-20) won with a two-shot advantage over Retief Goosen, Bryson Dechambeau and Bill Lunde.
The Spanish golfer had an action-packed and somewhat inconsistent round, with many ups and downs in the desperate attempt to move up in the rankings. Gonzalo made a total of five birdies, with a notable finale of three birdies on the last five holes, but at Coco Beach Golf (Río Grande, Puerto Rico) it was impossible to have a chance at the winner’s circle this week without rounds less than seventy shots.
Although all the hard work from the previous weeks was apparent in the tournament, the Madrid native still hasn’t quite been able to solidify his ranking in the PGA Tour.
